I hope you had a restful long weekend.
This week we will explore the rich cultural and musical heritage of African American History Month, focusing on the ultimate American art form, Jazz. We will explore all the ways Jazz has influenced the music we love, and learn some songs especially written for younger children such as the opus of the great American composer Louis Jordan as well as Duke Ellington. These musical giants overcame incredible obstacles and succeeded as artists, business entrepreneurs, orchestra leaders and promoters of equal rights all in the face of segregation and intimidation they suffered during their lifetimes.
PLEASE VIEW THE LESSON PLAN HERE
Have a wonderful week and I hope you will continue to be inspired by these incredible individuals that crafted the culture- art, music, literature and science- as we know it today.
