Week of February 25

Dear Students and Families,
Please view this week's lesson plan here: LESSON PLAN WEEK OF FEBRUARY 25
This week we have several important events to keep in mind:
-We will have early dismissal on both February 25 and March 1st;
-African American History presentations will be held on Wednesday in the auditorium from 8:30 till 10am, parents are welcome. 6th grade will be presenting about famous African American composers, musicians and civil-rights advocates who were artists.
-Dr. Seuss Dress Up Day and Costume Contest on Fridays morning in the auditorium;
-Progress reports will be send home on Thursday.
In music class this week we will continue to learn about American composers and musical innovators such as Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Aaron Copland, who all either lived in NY or were born and raised New Yorkers as well. We will look for inspiration in their life stories as they were all civil-rights advocates, children of immigrants and made their mark on the rich heritage of American music.
Younger grades will continue their exploration of the orchestra, learning about woodwind and percussion instruments this week through fun musical story of Sergei Prokofiev, "Peter and the Wolf".
Have a great week!
Ms. Alma Micic
