Week of March 11, 2018

Dear Students and Parents,
I hope you had a restful weekend. This coming week we will focus on songs featured in the Passion Play scheduled for March 23, which will be a combination of hymns, spirituals and contemporary gospel Christian music. Younger grades will continue exploring various Spring-themed songs as well as various rhythmic games using percussion instruments such as shakers, tambourines, hand drums and sticks.
At least once this week each class will be singing a version of vocal warm ups approriate for their grade and age; we will also discuss vocal health and breath technique with students in grades 4-8.
Composers featured this week are French composer Claude Debussy- most students are familiar with his well-known Clair de Lune composition and we will introduce more of his orchestral works, as well as a continuation of study on Sergei Prokofiev, composer of the beloved musical story Peter and the Wolf which almost everyone in the schools can sing along to at this point, especially Peter’s theme!
Have a joyus and successful week,
Ms. Alma Micic
