COVID-19 Announcement

 Dear Parents,

The health and safety of students and staff of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs are our top priority. We are committed to ensuring school communities have the information they need on COVID-19 (coronavirus). 

 

It would a violation of privacy laws to provide information about specific individuals and their circumstances; we will provide information on school operations as well as, coronavirus related guidance from government agencies.

 

We are writing to inform you that a parent of a student of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School  self-reported a positive test result for COVID-19. We are handling this situation with the utmost seriousness.  The day of last exposure was Thursday, September 24th , CDC advises that any symptoms of Corona virus appear between 2 and 14 days from the date of exposure.  At this time, it is important to listen to facts and not respond to fear, rumor, innuendo, or social media. I would encourage you to visit the CDC website www.CDC.gov  and NYC DOHMH https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-main.page  for additional factual information and resources.

Students of the affected class have been informed that they will have remote classes until

 October 13, 2020 as per the guidelines.

 We are following protocols from the CDC and the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. If you were at the school on Thursday, September 24th , you will be notified by the contact tracers from NYS Department of Health or the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene if you were exposed to the infected member and need to quarantine.

 We contract with qualified, licensed cleaning professionals who regularly conduct deep cleaning and sanitization following CDC Guidelines using approved disinfectants and completed another cleaning today.

We will continue to deliver as much information as possible in a timely manner. During times like this, the safety and well-being of our Catholic schools families and staff, as well as those in the broader community around us, are our primary concern. Please continue to ask the intercession of Our Lady, to protect, bring healing, and watch over the staff and children of our school, parish and community.

●       Stay home if sick: Monitor your and your child’s health and stay home if you are sick or keep them home if they are sick, except for getting essential medical care (including COVID-19 testing) and other essential needs.

 ●       Physical distancing: Stay at least 6 feet away from people who are not members of your household.

 ●       Wear a face covering: Protect those around you. Wearing a face covering helps reduce the spread of COVID-19, especially if you are sick and don’t have symptoms. For more information about face coverings, visit nyc.gov/health/coronavirus and look for "FAQ about Face Coverings."

 ●       Practice healthy hand hygiene: Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available; clean frequently touched surfaces regularly; avoid touching your face with unwashed hands; and cover your cough or sneeze with your arm, not your hands.

Here are some important announcements for this week.

 Religion Test:

 Grades 2, 3, 4, 5,and 6 -we will have a chapter 1 test on Tuesday September 22. 

Please review the entire 1st chapter in your religion book.

Friday, 9/25, will be an early dismissal day, school day will end at 12 noon.

First day of school Zoom information- please read carefully!

 Dear Students and Families,

The link for the 5th Grade homeroom daily Zoom stream has been posted in Google Classroom (Religion for 5th Grade class). 

All classes for 5th Grade will be streamed daily via this ONE  link.

  You will see me for the first two periods on Wednesday, and if you have any questions you can ask me directly when we are in person or on Zoom.

Please follow instructions posted there and log in promptly at 8am or a little before.
