Please joins us for our continued celebration of Hispanic Heritage this week, on Tuesday October 22 at 9am. In addition to Social Studies individual presentations, we have also prepared a music program comprising of choral religious and folk songs sung in Spanish.

Week of October 6, 2019

This week we will work on final preparations for our Hispanic Heritage presentations that will begin next week on 10/16.
In the recorder flute unit we will focus on breath technique exercises as well as  repertoire review of the following selections:
-The Boat Song ( Chinese Trad.)
-Suo Gan ( Welsh Folk Song)
-Ode to Joy ( Beethoven)
During recorder practice, students play on pitch and in specific rhythm in an ensemble setting.
PreK, K and 1 st grade will explore various bi-lingual songs, greeting and goodbye songs as well as children's folk songs from around the world. We will include music and movement routines that celebrate changing of seasons and different kinds of weather.

Fireman Ivan and Fireman Bill will be here to speak to all students regarding Fire Safety.

Week of September 30


This week we will prepare and  present a beautiful selection of songs for mass, feast of St. Francis of Assisi.  The choir will feature students from third, fourth and fifth grade.
Third grade will continue to learn the basics of the recorder flute, and practice the basic melody of the song “Hot Cross Buns”. The students will get used to reading notes displayed on the board and car leading to the pictures on the flute.
We are in full swing of preparations for our Hispanic heritage presentation that will take place in two weeks. The pre-K classes, as well as classes K through eighth grade have all been practicing very hard.  We will continue to incorporate percussion instruments from various part of the world into our music lessons. We will also explore the basics of piano with the younger grades and discuss the pentatonic scales and their historic use around the world in the upper grades.  Featured composers for this week are Haydn, Mozart, and Liszt.
