Week of February 5th

Hello Students and Parents!
This week we are preparing for two Valentine’s Day music presentations that will take place on February 13 and February 14.
On 2/13 presentation will be for PreK-1, Pre-K 2 Grades and Kindergarten. They will perform two songs each starting at 9am. On February 14, PreK 3,4,5 will be presenting their Valentine’s Day show, also with two songs per class. That day we also have Mass at 10:30am for Ash Wednesday and Sacramental class children will sing.

LESSONS PLAN WEEK OF JANUARY 28

This week we will continue practicing for the upcoming Valentine’s and Black History Month Presentations, exploring various musicals and choral singing. Composers featured this week are Bach and Beethoven. Our 6th grade student Nisha was kind to bring her viola last week and do a presentation for her class! Students asked questions about the instrument and she did an amazing job explaining the instrument and showing us how it’s played.
Sacramental class students will learn and rehearse songs selected for the Sunday service.

This week we will continue learning about different unique rhythms from around the world, with focus on Samba that is based in Brazil. We will continue working on preparations for the Valentine’s Day presentations for younger students, PreK-K and Black History Month presentations later in February featuring grades 1-8.

This week the students will continue with preparations for various music presentations we will feature in February; life of Bach is inspiring students through his message of a life filled with purpose and passion- his music is timeless and his spirit of freedom relatable to all of us.
We will continue exploring the Doumbek drum I recently acquired for students to use at the school- it was a donation but in great shape and we have been having lots of fun playing this drum, also known as the Goblet drum or Darabuka.

Week of January 7th

It has been a cold and snowy weekend! We will warm up this week with some jazz and gospel as we start to explore different musical selections for the Black History Month Celebration which we will have in February. PreK and UPK classes will be preparing for their Valentine’s Day presentations. We will continue learning about music notation and even some basic conducting!
