LESSONS PLAN- WEEK OF DEC 10

Dear Students and Families,
This week we will continue learning about various composers and their most known works, including  American composer John Williams who wrote music for movies such as Star Wars, Superman, etc. We will be listening to audio examples as well.
Practice for our Lessons and Carols continue- we hope to see you there on Dec 21!

WEEK OF DEC 10

Music curriculum week of Dec 3

This week we will focus on perfecting our music notation skills! Some grades have been able to write down the melody of Jingle Bells in their music notebooks, as well as learn about different types of notes in terms of lenghth and have learned how to count in 4/4 time signature.
Using the recorders this week, some grades will compose their own original melody and play it as an ensemble with the help of music application Garage Band.
We will continue with preparations for the Lessons and Carols event on Dec 21 in the church.

LESSON PLAN- WEEK OF DEC 3

Week of November 26

This week we will be focusing on traditional Christmas music throughout the centuries- from early English carols to classics from the 20th century. We will be reviewing what we have learned about music history and most famous composers from around the world, as well as history of music notation starting in the middle ages. Students are progressing nicely with recorders and basic piano skills, and we will incorporate holiday music in our repertoire of instrumentals as well.

Week of November 19

 Happy Thanksgiving! Lesson plan Nov 20-22
 We will be celebrating in a musical ways all through the week, starting with the second and third grade concert on November 20 and continuing with the music presentations of pre-K classes on Tuesday, November 21. We are also already preparing for the Lessons and Carols in December and are very excited about our song selections. Have a wonderful holiday and give thanks!

Week of November 12

This week we are actively preparing music for the Thanksgiving presentation (on Nov 21, PreK classes 1,2,3,4,5 and on Nov 20th 9am grades 2 and 3) as well as finalizing song selections for our Lessons and Carols service in December. Students in the upper grades are learning about famous classical composers from around the world and all students in grades 1-8 are learning the basics of music notation.
Prek-3rd grade students are learning about musical instruments and using percussion instruments
 ( shakers, tambourines and rhythm sticks) as well as the wonders of the acoustic and electric pianos.

This week we continue with preparations for our Thanksgiving Music Presentations which will feature grades PreK 1,2,3,4,5 K1 and K2 as well as Grade 2 and 3.
We will also continue using recorders and learning piano basics in Grades 4-8  as well as reviewing what we have learned about classical composers from around the world and practicing music notation skills. Have a wonderful week everyone!
